Washington, DC—U.S. Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD) today welcomed Amie Hirrschoff of Brookings to his Washington, DC internship program. A graduate of Brookings High School, Hirrschoff is the daughter of Donn and Sharon Hirrschoff of Brookings. Hirrschoff is a senior at Concordia College where she majors in Political Science and Global Studies.
“Through internships, students gain valuable insight into the political and legislative process in Washington,” Johnson said. “I am glad Amie has been able to join us this summer and I know she will make the most of her experience.”
“I am looking forward to working in the nation’s capital and hope it will be memorable and valuable for my future career,” said Hirrschoff.
The Washington, DC internship program matches interns' interests to South Dakota and federal issues while providing a first-hand opportunity to experience a wide-range of office duties. Interns may attend hearings, research issues for projects, and work with the office administrative staff.
College sophomores, juniors and seniors are encouraged to apply for Johnson's upcoming fall internship program. College credits and/or a stipend are available.
