Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD) announced today that Hot Springs Municipal Airport will receive a $365,000 grant as part of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Improvement Program. The funding will be used for hangar construction.
“Airports play an important role in the economies of rural communities in our state and they need to be invested in to accommodate growth,” Johnson said. “This federal funding will be used to improve airport infrastructure, efficiency and safety in Hot Springs.”
The FAA Airport Improvement Program provides grants for the planning and development of public-use airports included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems. Projects funded under the program include improvements related to enhancing airport safety, capacity, security, and environmental concerns. Funding covers improvements and repairs as well as professional services such as planning, surveying and design.
