Washington, DC–U.S. Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD) made the following comment on today’s Inauguration of the nation’s 44th President, Barack Obama:
On what was a cold, crowded day in Washington, DC, we witnessed history. Today, President Barack Obama was sworn into office before a nation and world eager for a fresh start. As I sat there with my colleagues, I prayed for this nation and our new President that we are able to navigate these trying times, and come out stronger. For all of our sakes, his success is our success.
I am looking forward to working with this President to help the people of South Dakota and our entire country address the issues before us. The road will not be easy and we are sure to not always agree, but as I start my next term in the Senate, I am more committed than ever to the people of South Dakota and am humbled by this opportunity.
