Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD) announced today that the Rosebud Sioux Tribe will receive a $48,500 federal grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) for long-term economic development planning for the region.
“This funding will help the Rosebud Sioux Tribe strengthen the local economy and promote development in the area,” Johnson said. “My Hometown Prosperity Plan calls for emphasizing entrepreneurship, and this funding is a great example of that kind of investment.”
The EDA was established to generate jobs, help retain existing jobs, and stimulate industrial and commercial growth. This funding will help establish an economic development planning framework, process and strategy that promotes investment and job creation in the region. The planning process will bring together the public and private sectors in creating an economic development plan that will diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
