HEALTH CARE: REAL STORIES FROM SOUTH DAKOTANS

My wife came down with cancer in 1990. Because of her cancer, insurance companies will not give her health insurance and we can’t go to the doctor very much due to the high cost.  She now has lung cancer, and has had to have a chest x-ray, CT scan, PET scan, MRI, Heart x-ray, and a Broc Scan. She is also undergoing radiation and chemotherapy. Her doctors are doing everything they can, and I am getting her the best treatment I can in hopes of saving her life.

How I am ever going to pay for this, I don’t know. I have a small business but am not a rich man, I just make a living. It looks like health care reform is coming too late for my wife, but there so many others with no insurance.

- Clark, Trent
