HEALTH CARE: REAL STORIES FROM SOUTH DAKOTANS

I know we are concerned about the uninsured.  However, you also need to be concerned with the middle class (if there is such a thing).  We pay extremely high premiums and with high deductibles, still pay for our health care.

I have given my entire life to a lower income community in the role of a teacher.  I never get a raise because the amount I have to pay for insurance benefits takes more from my check than my raise added to it.  Most of us avoid going to the doctor because we have already spent $800 or more a month for insurance and can't afford to pay the doctor bill.

I have no vision or dental health with my plan.  I am of retirement age, but continue to teach to have health insurance in case we need it.  You know more than anyone else that all it takes is one medical emergency and you are at the mercy of the health care system.

As you consider health care changes, think of those of us who pay the high premiums every month and work to do just that.
